Southern Cape’s Shadrock Donson is the Imperial Auto/MFC champion
Southern Cape’s Shadrack Donson edged out Northerns’ Andre Nienaber and Easterns’ Mike Fick to claim the Imperial Auto/MFC Final Challenge. The event saw the 12 Gold Cup club winners hosted at Champagne Sport resort for a wonderful weekend of fun, festivities and competitive golf.
Donson, who plays out of George Golf Club, shot rounds of 84 and 85 at the testing Champagne Sports Resort layout to score 60 points to win by four points over Wingate Park’s Nienaber and Benoni Lake’s Fick.
While the Gold Cup winners were battling it out for the ultimate honours, a secondary tournament also included three junior boys and three junior girls from GolfRSA, three players from the SA Disabled Golf Association and three players from the SA Golf Development Board.
Central Gauteng’s Kaiyuree Moodley (pictured left, with Nomads chairman Andrew Bullen) ran away with the title by seven shots after shooting rounds of 66 and 71 for an impressive 81 points. She was followed by the SAGDB’s Sibusiso Mkwanazi on 74 points and the SAGDB’s Kwazi Mahlangu.
In the Senior Challenge, Gary Cahi from Western Province edged out Nomads immediate past chairman Richard Plumb on a countout on 74 points, with Graeme Wood from Easterns finishing third on 72 points.
