Jarvis on track for ‘Nomads Slam’

Casey Jarvis’ recent win in the Nomads SA Boys U17 Championship at Middelburg Country Club sees the 14-year-old GolfRSA National Squad player on track to join Jayden Schaper as the only player to have won all four Nomads SA Boys age-group titles.

Jarvis, the 2017 English Under-14 Boys champion, fired a flawless final-round of 8-under-par 64 to win by two shots over Cole Stevens. The win, together with his Nomads SA Boys Under-13 title in at Royal Durban Golf Club in 2015 and the Nomads SA Boys Under-15 at Kingswood in January, means that he is one title away from completing the Nomads Slam.

“I’m stoked about this win, because I had to come from behind to take the title,” Jarvis said. “The conditions were really tough in the morning with an ice cold wind blowing, and the wind never let up throughout the day.

“I hit my irons and wedges really good and I gave myself opportunities to score. The putter worked well too, although I left a few out there. Every time I was in trouble, I hit great recovery shots and made key par-saves to keep the momentum going. That was the key to my win.”
