Brown and Potgieter take the spoils
After a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nomads SA Junior International was back with a bang at Rondebosch Golf Club as Aldrich Potgieter and Bobbi Brown completed convincing victories. Potgieter, in racking up his first victory since his family returned to South Africa from Perth, Australia, demonstrated why he is so highly rated. The 17-year-old shot rounds of 71, 67 and 72 to win by four strokes over Keagan Crosbie. Jack Buchanan, Dylan Kayne and Timothy Daniels finished in a tie for third.
“It feels amazing to get my first South African win,” said Potgieter. “I know theNomads tournaments mean a lot to the players, so I’m proud to have a first Nomads title under my belt.”
Meanwhile Brown finished as the only player under par in the girls field after she fired rounds of 75, 73 and 66. The 2021 Nomads SA Girls champion won by six strokes from Megan Streicher, with Jasmine Furstenburg third, a further two shots back.
“The Nomads events have been good to me,” the Steenberg member laughed. “I’ve had a good run of form over the last year and the Nomads events have been key to that.
“It’s always a goal to do well in the Nomads events. Nomads do so much for junior golf and it is an honour to win one of their tournaments.”
