Some SUNDRY highlights .....
From its inception 50+ years ago
Nomads has been a source of anecdote and incident, some capable of being
repeated others not so.
The following pages represent but a few of the many of the more memorable
stories recorded, captured in our National Magazine over the years.
The magazine is produced, annually, by our National PRO and covers items of both
a serious and not so serious nature. It is has been our document of public
record over the years and, as such, deserves input of the highest calibre.
Sadly many of the finer moments of hilarity fail to make their way onto the
printed page and thus are lost to us. Here one thinks of the thousands of
Members we have had since 1960, or even earlier on in the NUMICS days, including
legendary humorists such as Eric Traube, Mike Schneider, Gillie Sales
etc.
If each one of us has just one memory to record think of all the material we
would have to publish but since most have considerably more than one
"memory" think of all that material going to waste.
The numbers of our Founders diminishes rapidly and with them so has our
ability to recall and record the incidents of yesteryear. A predictable but
regrettable set of circumstances. If you feel you can make a contribution
worth repeating please do not hesitate to send it to the Webmaster.
Two of the more oft repeated truisms in Nomads are:-
"There's nothing so past as Past" and
"No-one is bigger than the Club"
and the following articles are generally reproduced with that in mind, however,
if anyone's name is repeated frequently it is probably because some individuals
definitely attract more publicity than others!
Enjoy the following - they will be added to as often as time and anecdote
allow.
