BRIEF HISTORY:

In the mid-1990s, unbeknown to the SA National Executive, there existed in Gaborone, Botswana a group of golfers who titled themselves GOMADS. This group conducted itself along the lines of Nomads in SA and so it was in 1997 the Captain of Gomads approached the SA National Executive seeking authority to become part of the SA Nomads golfing fraternity.

Following several visits by SA Nomads it was decided that although the Gomads were in many ways identical to the SA Nomads set-up, because they, at that time, only had one 18 hole golf course and potentially a very small pool of Members, they would be granted independent status with their own Constitution and Rules of Play, albeit, set up along the lines of the SA model.
Thus in February 1998 Botswana Nomads Club was inaugurated in Gaborone and are actively seeking to expand their horizons to take in other parts of the country.

As there is only one Nomads Club in Botswana holding their own National Tournament is not feasible without the participation of a contingent of players from SA and Zimbabwe to help make up the numbers.

A Botswana Nomads contingent plays, annually, in both the SA and Zimbabwe National Tournaments.
