BRIEF HISTORY:               Since Nomads was formed in the Transvaal region in 1960, and, with the subsequent formation of both the Northern and Eastern Transvaal Clubs, no away tour schedule would have been complete without a visit to some part of the Lowveld. Following from such visits strong bonds of friendship were developed and there was frequent talk of the formation of a Lowveld Nomads Club. However, for many years after the start of Nomads, it was held that there were three criteria which had to be met before approval would be given for a Club to be formed in any area and these were:-
            a)    the area had to have a minimum (unspecified) number of 18-hole golf
                   courses
            b)    the potential number of Founder Members forming the Club had to be a
                    certain minimum (unspecified)
and,    c)     Members should not be required to travel great distances (unspecified)
between golf courses for monthly meetings.

Although some previously formed Nomads Clubs had not met all of these criteria, to the regret of all concerned, the Lowveld were perceived to be unable to meet any of the above criteria and was therefore considered to be a non-viable proposition.

The problem was resolved by lateral thinking, considerable perseverance and large amounts of groundwork on the part of Easterns, their sponsor Club, after many years in the making, in November 1996, the Lowveld Club was inaugurated.
